In the Apostle Paul’s parting letter to Timothy, his son in the faith, he exhorted, “You then my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:1-2). Preparing to depart from his earthly life as he finished the race (2 Timothy 4:7), Paul encouraged Timothy with two essential elements of ministry: the power of God’s grace and the passing on of God’s truth. In other words, he wanted Timothy to understand the work of God is done by the Spirit of God as He works through the person of God who teaches the people of God. These two elements of ministry are evidences of the work God is doing at Crossroads Bible College.

At Crossroads Bible College, the power of God is seen through the desire to live out our mission statement. Crossroads Bible College exists to glorify God by training Christian leaders to reach a multiethnic urban world for Christ. In a day and age where racial tension continues, the call for clarity on issues and unity among people fail because no answer appears to solve the problem. That is because the answer for racial reconciliation is found in the gospel, hence Dr. Ware’s teaching on GRACE Relations. Only when we rely on God’s strength can we effectively serve Christ and show a watching world the hope of the gospel. As part of a multiethnic community, I am grateful to have witnessed the power of the gospel both as a Crossroads student and now as a Crossroads faculty and staff member. Yet, my gratitude does not stop there.

At Crossroads Bible College, the goal of glorifying God happens through the training of Christian leaders. The classes taught by apt professors offer students the context to connect with their professors. I can fully attest to this. As an introverted student, I had a professor by the name of Nicholas Piotrowski who invested in me and challenged my growth not only as a Christian but as a Christian leader. His classes provided the necessary training for ministry. Through his example I saw 2 Timothy 2:2 come to light. This semester I, once an introverted and quiet student, will teach Hermeneutics, a course I took with Dr. Piotrowski (which I still consider my favorite course to this day!). As I learned from him, I have been entrusted to teach and training Christian leaders who will then teach and train others. The legacy of rightly handling God’s Word continues through the passing on of God’s truth.

Our culture is looking for answers to the problems we face. Our churches are searching for faithful Christian leaders to guide. Crossroads Bible College is raising up such men and women for God’s glory and God’s mission. Students are being trained to train. That’s why I love Crossroads Bible College!
